Does this sounds familiar.
We spoke with a league yesterday about how they address a
common issue-how to build competitive
teams rosters. Here is their current
process:
1.
Players register for the new season
2.
The league organizes tryouts by division/age
group
3.
Coaches conduct the tryouts in order to evaluate
players
4.
Coaches draft players to fill out their roster
Pretty typical, right?
Leagues have been doing this for years.
Now, consider this approach.
1.
Player register (same as above)
2.
The league organizes tryouts by division/age
group (same as above)
3.
Now- the league
develops its own player evaluation criteria, focusing on the key skills for
their sport. Coaches rate players on a
scale of 1-5 for each skill, & enter that data into their league management
software. Once completed, the software calculates a weighted player
rating score.
4.
That player rating score is now displayed on a draft tool, for all coaches to
see. Available players can then be
sorted based upon their player rating.
On draft day, coaches simply make their selections, & use the
software to assign players to their roster.
The end result? A much
faster process, and more competitively balanced teams!
